Dinner Club

SOMETHING WORTH BRAGGING ABOUT BECAUSE OF WHAT IT BRINGS TO PEOPLE WE CARE ABOUT

Things don’t always  work as we would like and we have to go back to the drawing board. But one program we have restarted this year, Friday night dinners, is having fantastic success in not just giving people  a great night out but I am constantly hearing what we think is one of the best outcomes ever. FRIENDSHIP.

It is fantastic to see people going out with small groups to dinner in interesting places having a great time and seeing it not stop there. People who didn’t know each other before  are making plans for future dinners, swapping phones numbers and arranging to meet on weekends. Some people who have just met this year and become friends are planning to go away on weekends together. In the end this going away  may be called respite  but for lots of  people its a lot better to go away with a mate and some staff you know and have a great time than possibly spending the weekend with a group of strangers in a respite house.

Just as good is the comments we heard that a young  person said the other night after coming out to a Dinner for the first time.. ‘I feel like I am being treated like an adult. If I want a wine I can have a wine”. Of course she could have the wine but she didn’t bother, what she was talking about was that these dinners are mates going out together. Not people being looked after.
